Such a seemingly small headline, this has far, far reaching consequences. Google are testing the ability to opt out of AI ads in the UK, where they already allow users to opt out of search and other Google services. Now this might seem a small thing, but as other countries start to do the same Google will eventually be forced to either pretty much shove ads everywhere, something they arguably do, or begin to charge more for more services and eventually Google will NOT be a “free” service any longer…

Now I have seen where this is all heading, and have been saying it for years. So called “free” accounts are starting to disappear because, well, money is becoming tighter weekly. The legislative pressure on Google and other corps is increasing daily and we are seeing things change, slowly for now but getting increasingly rapid like a snowball down a mountain! Things are going to become expensive really quickly the way it is going – and I’ve not even mentioned the AI money pit yet either! The old days of being able to create accounts willy nilly are pretty much over anyway, but this pressure is going to make it harder…
