WorldWar II with Tom Hanks Review!

I do like my history and I do like my documentaries, so I actually was looking forward to this coming out – and it did not disappoint. Of course it is not for everyone, and there are some horrific images and videos of things like concentration camps and post atomic bomb footage, but this was about the bloodiest war ever seen and hopefully the last world war as well. Unfortunately it does have a very American slant or take on WWII but that is to be expected, it also pretty much brings it together with experts and their take on things. I found it hard going, but good and hopefully some people with little understanding of WWII will watch it and maybe understand a bit more…

World War II with Tom Hanks

8.3 out of 10

Tom Hanks narrates a 20 part series about WWII from an American perspective, but still a decent documentary. I enjoyed it, but it is not to be taken lightly as a lot of images and footage is horrifying!

Narrative and Story
9 out of 10
American centric, but then again it is an American production. Good footage and the experts are excellent
Video and audio quality
8 out of 10
Pretty decent considering it was the 1930s and 40s. Has been cleaned up quite well, but it could be better
Content
9 out of 10
Covers pretty much everything that needs to be in the limited time of 20 episodes, WWII was a massive conflict both in time, area and impact
Accuracy
7 out of 10
Misses a few things out as it is biased to American views, but over all brings new material to the fore, and it is nice to hear from some foreign experts from both sides

Pros

Easy to use

Good price

Sturdy build and ergonomics

Cons

Incompatible with old versions

Hard to assemble

Bad color combination
