Facebook is launching yet another standalone app to make use of one of the parts of its Facebook empire. Hot on the heels of apps for groups and to become verified we now see an app for marketplace. It is becoming very obvious that Facebook is a sprawling place and having one app for a lot of people who only seem to use certain parts (I know of a few who only use marketplace) or the website is becoming hard to manage. I can see a scenario soon where the website functionality is reduced and you would be expected to use the various apps for speed and security(!) to access the various parts of Facebook – or perhaps it will allow the various parts to be spun off, I cannot decide yet. However it is also noticeable that Seller is only available to over 18s in the US currently, and that seems to be another way to age verify without actually age verifying, as this is a hot subject right now as most governments around the world seek to ban social media for the young.
