A new report says that top doctors believe that social media use is as bad as smoking for under 16s! Now colour me surprised but the timing of this is just as I have been predicting will happen (and surely will as other countries all are doing the same like Australia) and the UK government is gearing up to ban social media use for under 16s.

Now we can debate the points of a social media ban ad infinitum, but I believe that now is the time for the social media companies to get rid of the “free” accounts and start charging. Now hear me out, if they charge then instantly younger uses will be locked out unless somebody else pays, but there will be a trail and you can easily say it is unlawful. It will also remove a lot of the dormant and long gone users, and hopefully bring back social media to a better place. I mean you won’t have the millions of bot accounts for starters, and scamming will be massively reduced as well! The time has come to clean up social media because it has been getting like the wild west of old….
