IMGUR blocked in the UK

  • by

Starting from 30th September imgur the media hosting site responsible for a lot of memes has been blocked in the UK because of the Online Safety Act. I am starting to see a lot of errors or content missing on other social media sites like Facebook because of the geo blocking and I imagine this will only get worse….
It appears that basically imgurs owners don’t agree with the OSA and have thus decided people in the UK cannot access the site or even their own data any longer. I believe this is yet another reason that shows the OSA as currently implemented to be poor, but I guess those in favour of the act will say it is exactly what it was designed for. As per usual those who lose out are the users who will now need to jump through hoops to get access to their own data!
