I am hearing from a few sources that it is looking increasingly likely that X is going to be banned in the UK and the EU soon – perhaps even in a few days after criticism over its AI platform Grok being used for sexual deepfakes and much more…

Whilst X is in the firing line so are many other social media platforms – Meta AI is being looked at as well. I can see there being a real chance that 2026 sees many social media platforms limited or even banned in the EU over privacy and security issues, and I have also been told numerous times that the UK is looking at adding X, FB, Insta et al to it’s list of platforms that need age verification. I imagine that as X has made Grok paid for that these platforms will be forced to go paid only to continue to exist and any polls I have seen, informal or not, suggest that 99% of people will leave the platforms if that is the case….
