After a lot of debate it appears that the Ofcom is after Grok for creating content that is against the OSA (Online Safety Act) and to be fair as far as I can see this is going to get messy – more so for X and Elon Musk than anybody else. I cannot see anything other than a mahoosive fine coming at the least, and at the worst I can see Grok being banned in the UK and possibly X, FB (Meta AI) and a few others becoming collateral damage. However I can see that what this will force is the big social media companies going paid for as that effectively reduces a hug risk that they may face action like this rather than the “free” nature and free speech they currently use to stay in line. I can see 2026 being a huge shift in social media usage, and all downwards as far as I can see!

In other news Meta shut down over 550,000 accounts in Australia over the ban for under 16’s in December after it came into force split over Fb, Insta and Threads. A step in the right direction but a whole lot less than the amount that was floated about which existed. We shall see what the effects are soon I reckon. G’day y’all
