Online Abuse – a new pandemic?

I have to deal with online abuse quite a lot, either myself or my family or via clients. This cowardly behaviour is getting beyond a joke, and people really need to get a grip over how foul and nasty they are becoming! We have enjoyed watching Clarkson’s Farm and in the latest series there is a new arrival at Diddly Squat called Harriet. You should have seen the vitriol aimed at her on the tinternet – I won’t link or quote it here, but it is just plain nasty! There was also the backlash over Bella Ramsay in The Last Of Us, which again was just crazy bad. And who can forget the crazy that was Trump V Musk with their online spat. And here is the issue – it has been normalised, it is OK nowadays. Well it isn’t normal, it isn’t right, and the authorities should do more to curb it. Stick em in jail if needs be (I know that isn’t a solution) and see how long it is till it dies down…

For an idea of what can happen, the BBC interviewed Katie Boulter recently. By all accounts Katie is a lovely person, who just happens to be a British Tennis player. She receives thousands of online messages of abuse, a couple of which she reads out in this 4 minute long interview. I hope something can be done about the cowards who do this – I bet 99% of them are male as well.
